Hello Davis County! Labor Day weekend is upon us. Wishing you all a great long weekend. This week we have some great events for the family as well as a day trip option for those that have no Labor Day plans.

This weekend

  • Library Storytimes

  • Farmers Markets

  • Model Train Rides

☀️ This Weekend & Beyond in Davis County

Bountiful Farmers Market | Bountiful

  • When: Thursday 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM

  • Where: Bountiful Town Square

  • What: Kick off the long holiday weekend a day early! Shop seasonal fruits, fresh produce, and local artisan crafts.

  • Family Value: Grab dinner from the local food trucks while the kids enjoy the nearby splash pad.

South Weber Model Railroad Club Rides | South Weber

  • When: Saturday, September 5, 2026 - 10am-1pm

  • Where: Canyon Meadows Park (631 E. Petersen Pkwy, South Weber)

  • What: A fantastic hidden gem where the club operates scale mini trains on a 7 1/2" gauge track that circles the park. The trains are big enough for both kids and adults to hop on and take a ride.

  • Cost: Free to ride, but donations are highly encouraged to help them maintain the trains!

Labor Day Triathlon | Bountiful

  • When: Monday, September 7, 2026 (Starts at 7:30 AM)

  • Where: South Davis Recreation Center (550 N 200 W, Bountiful)

  • What: A fantastic community athletic event to close out the long weekend. The event features Sprint, Relay, and Novice triathlon courses for all skill levels.

  • Pro-Tip: If you aren't racing, it is still a highly energetic local event to bring the kids to and cheer on your community neighbors as they cross the finish line!

Davis County Library Storytimes | County-Wide

  • When: Weekday mornings (Times vary by branch)

  • Where: Your local Davis County Library branch (Bountiful, Centerville, Clearfield, Farmington, Kaysville, Layton, Syracuse)

  • What: Now that the older kids are back in school, it's the perfect time to bring the little ones to the library! The county branches host weekly, interactive storytimes designed to delight toddlers and preschoolers while building early literacy skills.

  • Pro-Tip: Many branches (like Kaysville and Syracuse) are kicking off fresh storytime schedules the first week of September. Check the official Davis County Library schedule online to find the exact "All Ages" or "Toddler/Preschool" time slot for your specific city! Library Calendar

🚗 Day Trip: Out-of-County Alternative

Payson's Golden Onion Days | Payson (Utah County)

  • When: Thursday, September 3 – Monday, September 7, 2026

  • Where: Downtown Payson & Memorial Park

  • What: Since Davis County keeps Labor Day relatively quiet, this is the perfect excuse for a family road trip! Payson has been hosting this massive festival since 1929. The weekend includes a carnival, a 5K/10K race, evening concerts, and a highly anticipated Labor Day parade. Saturday and Monday have the most activities which can be reviewed here: Guide

  • Family Value: The festival is built for families, offering free parking, a baby contest, and a spectacular fireworks show over Memorial Park to close out the weekend on Monday night.

Milk Barn Creamery Entrance

Milk Barn Creamery + Scoops & Smiles

Centerville + Morgan + South Ogden | Ice Cream Shop | Counter Service

Milk Barn Creamery has won multiple awards for their ice cream. One of my favorite flavors that I can’t find anywhere else is the strawberry sour cream, which is tangy and delicious. They have a Waffle Cone Wednesday promotion for a free waffle cone upgrade as well as punch cards for repeat visits. They also have some dairy-free options that are a great alternative if you have any dairy sensitivities.

Milk Barn Creamery ice cream is also available at Scoops & Smiles which has a mission beyond serving scrumptious ice cream. They provide jobs for individuals with disabilities and give them the opportunity to learn and grow as an employee. More information about the Scoops & Smiles South Ogden location is available here: Facebook page

Order for First Timers
